The Creepy Clown Motel, an Ungrateful Wife & a Soccer Fan's Missing Finger

Would you rather spend the night in a motel full of creepy clowns or deal with a spouse who complains about getting too many flowers?

Today on The Treehouse Show, Dan and Trey visit the bizarre world of Nevada's Clown Motel, where nightmares apparently come with complimentary towels.

Then it's off to Reddit, where a woman is genuinely upset that her husband sends her flowers too often. Her complaint? She's running out of room for all the vases. We have questions. Lots of questions.

We also celebrate Glen Powell's birthday and acknowledge that sometimes a man is just objectively handsome.

And finally, a British soccer fan loses a finger trying to relieve himself after a match. You'd think that would be the end of the story, but things get even stranger.

It's another episode of ridiculous news, questionable decisions, and completely unfiltered conversations.

43 That's nojunkinyourtrunk.com. It is time to leave your worries outside and laugh with us inside the tree house. I'm Dan O'Malley along with Trey Trenholm. Trey, would you rather stay at a haunted clown motel or sleep next to a crazy woman who doesn't appreciate the nice things you do for her? I've done one. I've done one.

29 I did one for a couple of years. Yeah. Bring on the clowns. Yeah. Yeah. I know how one plays out. So I. Clowns. It really depends on. So I'm not like we had an old boss that was legitimately afraid of clowns. The official term is calvary phobia. Calvary phobia. I know that. Because our old boss had it. And I'm not to that level. It just depends. On the clown. It also depends on whether or not they're chasing me with a knife.

12 Yeah. Balloon animal, I'm not that afraid. You pull out a butcher knife, I'm going to have some concerns. Ronald McDonald doesn't scare me that much. Ronald McDonald with fangs? Which is Pennywise? Yeah. So I actually left a part of this off. Would you stay at a haunted clown motel that also happens to be next to a cemetery? If you're down for clown, you can do this. This is in Tinopa, Nevada. They have the clown motel. I may not even be saying that right. Tinopa, Tinopa, Tonopa. There's a place outside of Vegas.

56 Yes. That is known for the Clown Motel. It is a one-of-a-kind establishment, and it proudly declares that it is known as America's scariest motel. The entirety of the motel is completely stuffed with clown paintings, figurines, statues, and all manner of assorted clown memorabilia. And as if that wasn't more than enough to keep the fright prone away, the motel is also rumored to be haunted. Good for business. And visitors frequently report... hearing footsteps, probably giant footsteps, seeing flickering lights, and experiencing other disturbances. I like to think that while they're sleeping, they get gushed in the face by a flower on somebody's lapel. Plus, the motel is located right next to a cemetery. And all of this, not too far from a nuclear bomb testing range.

50 So there you go. Radioactive haunted clowns and a cemetery. You know, first of all, in fact, they said it's the scariest motel. You know, RIP Como Motel of 75. That was scary in a different way. You weren't necessarily scared of monsters and clowns at the Como Motel on the side of 75. You were scared of viruses and bacteria from whoever rented the room the previous hour. How does this place not have a brothel attached to it? You're right, man. Why don't you screw a haunted clown? Yeah.

31 On top of someone's grave site. That really is the only thing, but you throw in a couple of slot machines and it really does have it all. So this town has been around since the early 1900s. It was a bustling mining community. And Apparently, it has not been free from tragedy much since. 1905 saw a plague sweep the town that, according to legend, only affected grown men. Then in 1911, a deadly fire broke out in the mine, killing 17 miners. Numerous fires occurred in the area in the following decades. In 1942, another fire claimed the life of a man named Clarence David, who happened to own a clown collection. His children honored their father by opening the Clown Motel right next to the cemetery where he was buried. The motel welcomed its first guests in 1985. Bob and Deborah Perchetti bought the hotel in 95, and for decades it remained relatively obscure.

36 It's also one of the few lodging spots along a stretch of desert road between Reno and Las Vegas, and it's hard not to wonder what weary, unassuming travelers must have thought over the years as they stumbled through its doors. Oof. That just does not look fun. So while I don't have calvophobia, I'm not phobic when it comes to clowns. I don't particularly like them. I don't think I ever have. And I've read before that it has to do with distrust or something because their faces are painted and you don't know what they really look like. I don't really know what it is. It is something to do with the paint. And I can't really put my finger on it.

20 I just don't like it. It's interesting that as kids, generally we all like clowns, but then, and maybe it's the horror genre. Maybe it's Gacy. I don't know. But then somehow as adults, we, we become creeped out by them. Uh, if not afraid, I don't know that I would want to sleep. It's like dolls, like dolls creep me out too. And I would not want to sleep in a room full of dolls, nor would I want to sleep in a room full of, you know, clown dolls, clowns on the wall, clowns are going to fall.

02 And it even goes back to in Poltergeist. You had the little boy who had a clown doll in his bedroom that came alive and strangled him. I was learning. I just have too much childhood trauma from watching movies I shouldn't have. Yeah, I feel like somehow that's how we. I remember when the circus came to town, it was always a big thing. You were so happy to go see Ringling Brothers and the clowns and everything else. Yeah. And now it's like, yeah, you're a little creepy. I remember going to the Ringling Brothers Circus in Tulsa and getting the little flashlight thingy with the spinny light.

43 And then a short time later, I was allowed to watch Poltergeist. And next thing you know, I'm afraid of clowns in my room. And also I learned don't drink the worm in the tequila bottle. Yeah. And maybe it's as an adult, you were like, what kind of person goes to clown school? And yes, there is a clown school, I believe. I think they even refer to it as clown college. I don't know if it has prerequisites like a GED or a high school diploma. Don't y'all get claustrophobic in that car? Yeah. Is that like freshman level or is that like senior level type stuff? I never want to go to clown college, but I do have questions.

27 Yeah, I have a lot of questions. Back to the clown motel in Nevada. In 2015, the hotel began attracting a new kind of attention when an episode of the show Ghost Adventures was filmed there. The crew documented mysterious shadows, disembodied voices, and most terrifyingly, a clown statue seemingly moving on its own. Ever since, visitors have come specifically to experience the ghostly activity. And according to legend, At night, the clowns become possessed by the ghosts of the long-dead miners from the nearby cemetery. In particular, room 108 is said to be haunted by a spirit known as the Trickster, who is said to have been spotted walking in from the cemetery and taking the form. Of a clown.

08 One visitor even claimed to have awoken to see a seven-foot-tall clown hovering over their bed. Oh, God. A Shaquille O'Neal-sized clown? I'm out. Yeah. If I wake up and I see. seven foot clown hanging over me. That I now have calvophobia. Yes. If it's a, if it's a, if it's a little clown, like if it's a little, like a tiny clown type thing, I can kick that. I'm not going to be as afraid seven foot tall clown. I'm done. I'm out. Not good. No. Yeah. That's a, I've, but, You take that, like the ghost stories thing. I mean, God knows. I mean, and you.

57 What's Rebecca's podcast? Rebecca Black, you're... Oh yes. Uh, from, and she is haunted AF with Julie Fisk. Yeah. I, you know, those podcasts have done wonders for stuff like this. I mean, uh, but true crime and haunted stuff do really, really well in the podcast side. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, That's not the reason we're talking about it. If I had a creepy place and I wanted some attention, that's exactly, I'd be like, it's haunted. It's absolutely haunted. I know a house in Frisco we could open up right now and make a lot of money. It is absolutely haunted by all sorts of stuff. Okay, so haunted clown motel, no. But if it was also a whorehouse, Like, if you could go in there and hook up with a clown.

54 You know, kind of got the Harley Quinn vibe going. Yeah, I could. Again, depends on the clown. Uh-huh. Yeah, because, I mean, Harley Quinn, thumbs up. Yeah. Pennywise, arms off. Let's roll with that for just a moment here, okay? So earlier I asked you, would you rather spend a night in a haunted garage clown motel next to a cemetery, or sleep next to a woman who just doesn't appreciate the nice things. You do for her. Like I said, I've done that. Let's see if you can relate to this poor man's plight. Okay. This guy says in the marriage subreddit, I just need to vent. I'm sorry.

37 This woman says, I just need to vent about how a nice thing my husband does has started making me furious. I don't know if there's a more female sentence that can ever be uttered than that. He is doing something nice for you and you find a way to be bothered by it. Jesus effing Christ. Anyway, she says, I get it. This is not a huge problem, but it's just come to represent so much more in my brain. Please don't leave a mean comment about how I just need to not be. Well, you know what? At least she's semi-self-aware.

17 Yeah, and I'm sure that stopped all the posters. Oh, yeah, yeah. She says, I love my husband, and he likes to do certain things. That show he appreciates me. One thing is getting me flowers, which is lovely. I love flowers. But for the last year, he's been going to this local shop. Great. Support local stores. But the problem is they only sell bouquets in a vase. That means every time he brings home flowers, there's a new vase that I eventually have to find a place to store. We don't have a huge house. We don't have a ton of storage space. It becomes a chore that I eventually have to do because of cleaning a vase and now trying to tetrastack it in one of the cupboards is already overflowing with vases.

02 What a jerk. How dare he? She goes on to say, about eight months ago, I told him, how much I appreciate the flowers, but asked if he could start getting bouquets without a vase and explain my reasoning. He's continued to get the ones with vases because the ones in vases are nicer and you deserve nice. And I'm supporting the store. She says, I tell him again that I get it. I know it's a kind thought, but then maybe he could be the one to toss the flowers when they die, clean the vase and find a place to store it. Basically like that's part of the gift, but no continues to get me ones in vases and. Then leave them dying in the counter. I throw out the flowers, leave the vase to clean, set it on the counter for a month, so I just did it. Next time I ask him that, maybe he could bring some flowers, or maybe he could bring some of the vases back with him when he goes, and he acted offended that I cared about this and just didn't focus on the gift of flowers, even though I think bringing the vases back is a great solution where everyone gets what they want.

54 I get it. She loves the flowers. Is she kind of being nitpicky on this? Yes, but at the end of the day, he's also not listening. I see why she's frustrated. Quit being an ungrateful and just give away the vases, take them to a charity, throw them away, do whatever. He's trying to be nice and to bring you flowers. I really did actually go through something like this. My, one of my previous relationships from like six, seven years ago, I sent her flowers one day and I came home and I, of course, it was a nice bouquet. I mean, I'm not talking about something cheap. It was, 150 plus dollar bouquet and I come home and she is mad won't talk almost in tears and when we finally talk it's because I didn't order the flowers from the florist she liked and I used someone that was closer and therefore but it wasn't the same design as she liked as the flower store I had she had instructed me to order her flowers from and so I was you know an asshole and because I didn't listen to her.

17 Yep so no I I will I I. I do understand a little bit of after a while the husband probably should take a hint but she could also just throw him away She doesn't have to, you know, keep he, I promise he's not counting the vases. No, he's not. She could go to Goodwill. She could go somewhere, give them away, throw them away and do whatever. And, and be happy that her husband thinks of her so much that he wants to get her flowers all the time. Pretty good guy. Most women would, would, would really would, would like to have your problem.

07 This reminds me of Valentine's Day. Many, many, many, many, many, many, many years ago. Previous relationship. Not my now wife. I made dinner for Valentine's Day. How dare you? You're right. How dare me? Because I made a salad with grilled shrimp and I was the a-hole. because it wasn't extravagant enough. My reasoning was we're trying to watch what we eat. So I, I cooked a healthy dinner, but she was mad that it wasn't extravagant enough. It's like, you know what? I was in a lose, lose position, man, because had I gone all out and made like a huge fancy dinner, which I couldn't even cook back then.

02 So, I mean, it wasn't going to be good. If I had, blown it out and done a roast with mashed potatoes. Hey, we go there or whatever. She would have been mad afterwards being like, I ate too much. You shouldn't have made all that. I knew that's what was going to happen. That's why I made a salad with some tasty grilled shrimp. And then I basically got it thrown at me because I didn't go above and beyond. Well, God damn it. I, I, yes. Same relationship I was talking about earlier. I also, I, I got her a nice Christmas gift, but it wasn't enough. She was one of those that there were dollar amounts that needed to be spent.

48 Oh, yeah. And this is right in the middle of COVID. And I'm like, my initial thing was, hey, she had two kids. It's like, hey, how about we focus Christmas on the kids? I go, money's a little tight. And then you and I can do something down the road, but let's not do anything absurd. And she got all offended and was like, you know, Christmas is such an important time. I can't believe you're doing this. You're going to ruin it. Fine. I went out, had to spend like three, 400 bucks on her. And she opened the gift. And admittedly, I'm bad at giving gifts. I've just, it's not, not my thing. But, you know, and then under her breath.

34 She's like, worst Christmas ever. F * * * you. Well, I mean, was it a Dyson? Or is it like an off-brand? Yeah. Okay, I wasn't that stupid. In hindsight, though. She did suck. 20:07 All right. I'm Dan. He's Trey. Today is Wednesday, October 21st, 2026. Let's celebrate today with some celebrity birthdays. Doja Cat is 31. Grammy-winning rapper and singer behind Say So, Woman, and Paint the Town Red. Also, very, very big potty mouth. The Doja Cat, 31. I think there was one time I was at the gym. I think it was like I was working out at LA Fitness in Frisco, and one of her songs came on my Pandora. Mix, and I was like, what the hell is this song? And why do I like it?

48 Yes, that is my Bessie and a Tessie. The opposite of Doja Cat, Kane Brown is 33. He is a country music singer known for Heaven, What Ifs, and Thank God. I think Yeah, so she's 31, he's 33. Kane Brown's one of the few, if it's the guy I'm thinking of, one of the few men of color in the country music area. He's definitely not as white as Tim McGraw, but he's definitely not as black as Shabuzy. All three quite talented, though. I don't really get Shabuzy. I do. I think he's fun. I like some of his songs, man. I like it. They're fun.

35 I think maybe it's because the one song, I got just tired of it. I get that. But look, if you like white girls, white girls love that song. Did you see the video of Shabuzy and his friends accidentally photobombing a couple during their wedding? No. So there was a couple getting married somewhere off the Brazos or Guadalupe And while they were having their post-nuptial wedding photos done, Shaboosie and his friends floated by in their inner tube.

18 It's one of the greatest photo bombs of all time. It's like, not only is it a group of floaters floating by in the backdrop of your wedding photos, but it's goddamn Shaboosie. I mean, that's just, Shaboosie was at our wedding. That's a cool story. No one else is going to have it. Other birthdays today. Glenn Powell, 38 years old. Man, Glenn Powell. Is having himself a run. Started arguably before he did Top Gun Maverick. But that definitely kicked him up a notch when that came out. And he's been riding that wave ever since. He also did Twisters, the Twisters remake. He's also now confirmed dating Cassie Randolph, one of the stars of Landman, which, if those two kids have babies, that's.

14 Going to be a good-looking family. Yeah, he's... He. Has that cool it factor that I.... Will never have? No. And he doesn't wear... a white t-shirt, a white t-shirt wears him. Look, I am a straight, straight man, but I get it when women saw him in twisters wearing the straw cowboy hat and the white t-shirt is like, yeah, I get it. He looked good. Damn it. It's interesting though, because he's a Texas fan too. And for me, he kind of has some of the same McConaughey vibes of just that, the it cool factor.

01 Except he looks like he wears good deodorant. Yeah. McConaughey, you know, is going to be a little. He does not look like he plays, you know, gets stoned and plays the bongos naked. No, he just plays Cassie Randolph. Yeah, that's awesome. Well done. Good job. Also, we got Zach Greinke. Cy Young winning pitcher is 43. He's a six-time all-star, one of baseball's most memorably unconventional personalities. If I remember right, he played for the Rangers for a spell. He flopped with the Rangers. Yes, he did. That did not go well for us Rangers fans.

43 Not that that puts him in elite category. It does not. It does not. Speaking of elite categories or the lack thereof, Kim Kardashian is 46 today. she is just as qualified to be the White House, the next press secretary of the White House as the outgoing one apparently was. Neither one of them have passed the bar exam. Yeah, that's... Oh, what a cluster. That is, and I'll say this. White House press secretary is one of the hardest jobs in the world.

28 By far. I know what we're going to do right now for the next couple of minutes, and I cannot stress this to you enough, that it is the most apolitical discussion about a political situation one could possibly have. Katie Zachariah had no business in that role, and also that role is one of the most difficult on the planet. You're absolutely right, Trey. I mean, that's... And Trump's not the first person to flop with one of his picks to do that. It's happened before. Yeah, she was absolutely unqualified. And it's not even fair. You are getting, and it doesn't matter, Republican, Democrat, whatever, it is a horrible job because you have to answer for shit that, you know, it's not like you can be an expert on every subject known to man. And you get thrown curveballs every day. With Trump, even ten times worse Because he can't stay off his Twitter account Or whatever the hell it is.

27 Yeah, he may Something may happen in the middle of your press briefing That they're going to ask you about That. You don't even know about Because he just did it while you were up there. And it's funny Because I've been I never watched the West Wing And so I've been actually watching it Great show. It gives you serious appreciation for that job. Yeah, go watch what CJ goes through, and that is a very... Because I've read from. You can listen to former, whether it's Jim Pisaki or Dana. Bash? No, the one on.

08 Dana Gould. Why can I only think of Danas that were not press secretaries? I can't believe it. Ari Fleischer, all of them. They'll all tell you that it's just... I mean, it's just a miserable... miserable job. Not only is it miserable, but it is extremely difficult. And that's part of what makes it miserable. And you're absolutely, once you're behind that podium, you're pretty much on your own. There's no, one's going to fly in to help you. Perino Dana Perino. Yeah. Oh yeah. But yeah, you're, you're, you are flying by the seat of your pants 24 seven, basically. And, and, and this happens, this is just politics.

48 A lot of times you're going out there and you're having to sell something that you know is complete bullshit. And you got to make it look genuine. You are putting lipstick on a pig. Now, granted, in her case, very nice lipstick. But it's still a pig. Oh, that poor, poor woman. So anyway, Kim Kardashian's 46. Will Estes is 48. He played Jamie Reagan on Blue Bloods and J.J. Pryor on American Dreams.

31 Going back to Kim Kardashian one second, because she dates my favorite F1 driver, Lewis Hamilton. And he's actually having a good year. And the Kardashians have not had a good effect on athletes. No, they have a tendency to suck the life out of it. Right. And this is the, it's the double negative theory because Ferrari also tends to F up. They just F up races, F up drivers. And the theory is that it's, it's the double negative. It turns into a positive. Oh, so two wrongs do make a right. Back inside the tree house. Now I'm Dan. He's Trey and we have all of our fingers. The same cannot be said for a man in the UK, and the way he ended up without one of his fingers is entertaining, but also what he did with it afterwards is kind of gross. Trey, imagine going to the bathroom and leaving without a finger. That's kind of what happened to Shane Storr. He's 38 years old. He's a Lincoln City soccer fan. He went to watch his team play at home against... Bolton on Valentine's Day, but he left without a finger. He accidentally ripped it off when he jumped a fence. See, the original, I originally thought somehow like he got caught in a zipper going to the bathroom, but I guess he went to a different area to go pee-pee.

00 The story just gets better and better. Yeah. I mean, you know, if this was Florida, you'd be like, all right, you know, a gator bit it off or something. Sure. Something normal. Yeah. The 38 year old went to watch his team play at home against Bolton on Valentine's day, 2026, when his girlfriend had got him tickets as a present. See, that's how you give a gift. And you can put those in a vase and he won't mind. But a few pints in, he was desperate for a leak after leaving the ground. He decided to hop over a fence after leaving the game to spend a penny in a bush over a fence near the pro impact stadium.

44 While waiting for his lift home. Okay. But as he hopped over the four foot fence, he fell backwards, probably because pints. caught his wedding ring on the corner of the fence, and de-gloved his left finger, leaving him in agony. For the record, that is why I wear the Kalo ring. Not because of this story, but because a good police officer friend of ours recommended it because he almost got his finger de-gloved, and he switched to these, and Tara and I switched to these as well. And degloving, for those who don't know, is when basically all the skin and flesh gets.

30 Torn off your finger. Yeah. But it's like it. It just leaves the meaty underdigit. Yes. It looks like your finger has been uncircumcised. Or overly circumcised, depending on how you look at it. Anyway, he hopped over a four-foot fence, fell backwards, caught his wedding ring on the corner of the fence, and degloved his left finger. For those that don't know, degloving is a severe injury that happens when the top layers of skin and tissue are ripped from the underlying muscle, connective tissue. Or bone. Emergency services were called. Paramedics rushed to the scene and administered first aid on the dad of six, eventually finding his lost finger on the floor near a KFC. Oh, that's a part of the story that sounds like it would be Florida. What? I'm just glad it didn't end up in someone's chicken tendies.

23 Yeah. How did we get to a KFC? They have them there. I know that, but how did we go from jumping a fence to our fingers in a KFC? It wasn't in a KFC. It was just near a KFC. Yeah. After scooping it up from the ground, they stashed it in a takeaway cup and ice from the Kentucky Fried Chicken fast food chain and took it with them to the hospital. So, you know, they were lucky they were near a colonel. stomach-churning photo showed Shane nursing his bloody hand after the horror incident. Sadly, his finger could not be saved. So he did what a lot of people do in these situations.

10 He pickled it in a jar in his house. On display for all to see. Don't get me wrong, makes for a great Halloween decoration, but it's his actual finger in a pickle jar, like on the shelf. This is what's weird. I can do blood and guts, but I saw the photo of his finger in the pickling liquid in the jar, and that actually made me kind of sick. I could see the finger de-gloved. I could see it hanging by a thread. No problem. Seeing it in the jar, bleh. Why? I mean.

51 He's proud. Of what? Of being drunk and falling off a four-foot fence? Yeah, it makes no sense. His finger is now displayed in a jar of rubbing alcohol in his The Nine Fingers in Man Cave. A likely new endorser to the silicone ring industry. He actually is. He does now urge people to wear the silicone rings. He also said it was just crazy. I'd cut the game short and I was waiting to get a lift, but I'd had a couple of beers at the game and I needed to take a leak. I was just waiting on the streets. I nipped over this fence.

34 I've still got the wedding ring that didn't even snap. And that's what caught on the corner of the fence post. And it's snagged on it. He also now has a tattoo at the base of his hand where the, like the knuckle, uh, where the ring finger used to be. And it's, It says loading with a circle loading emblem, like for your computer. So he definitely has a sense of humor about it. Yeah, it's just gross. I realize that the finger is not there to be eaten, but because he is keeping it in his home pub, I've always wondered this. Anytime I've been in somebody's house or gone to a bar especially, and they have certain things pickling in the back, like behind the bar, like pickled eggs. I've seen green beans, pickled pig's feet. I don't understand the pickling. Don't get me wrong.

35 I love a pickle. I don't like cucumbers, but I like a pickled cucumber, which is just a pickle. I don't like a bunch of other pickled stuff. I don't want pickled asparagus. I don't want. Pickled green beans. And I sure as hell don't want pickled eggs. That doesn't even, that doesn't sound anywhere near good. And the farts. Oh my God. I can't even. I've never had a pickle. I'm like, I like pickled okra. There's a lot of things I like, but the pickled eggs I've never understood. Although if I think about, you know, a deviled egg, it does have some dill in there. A little bit, but it's not all dill. Yeah.

20 Uh, the pig's feet. Hell no. Uh, look, like sucking on a pig's foot is not my idea of fine cuisine. And I don't think anyone necessarily sees it that way, but I'm also not desperate. And I can't, I, I like pork and I'll eat some off cuts of certain things here and there. Like I'll do some beef cheeks. I did, uh, uh, the one time at the loon for the Christmas party and they had the pig out. I was the one that took the tongs and started ripping it off the face. Of the pig. People were looking at me like I was a serial killer. Like, no, this is where the good stuff is. Trust me. I am not going to gnaw on the pig's foot. I'm not doing it. And I'm certainly not going to do it if it's been pickled. Blech. You ate the ass, though, didn't you?

04 I'll eat that ass. But don't pickle it. All right, I believe that does it for this episode of The Treehouse. I think we've maxed out as far as I'm concerned. We will see you next time right here inside The Treehouse. If you loved what you heard, share it with a friend, and together we can grow The Treehouse Show.
